President Barack Obama plans to visit Iowa next week, his first presidential visit to the state that launched his campaign for the White House, an aide said Wednesday. Obama plans to visit Newton next Wednesday with a focus on energy policy, said a White House aide. More details of the visit will be made in coming days, the aide said. Newton is home to a plant that manufactures wind turbine blades. The central Iowa city had been hit hard when its largest employer, Maytag, was sold to Whirlpool and the appliance maker pulled out of the community.Source: Omaha.com
